5 UNEXPECTED WAYS TO USE FACE MISTS - Jurlique US

5 UNEXPECTED WAYS TO USE FACE MISTS

At Jurlique, we love a good face mist. Our Rosewater Balancing Mist, packed with the extract of our exclusive Jurlique Rose, has been one of our most popular products for years, and our range of mists has gained a loyal following of beauty enthusiasts the world over. As the post-cleanse step, our face mists are known for their hydrating and soothing properties and are a skin care ritual essential. But did you know that our Mists do more than hydrate the skin and can also be used throughout the day, outside of your skin care ritual? Read on for five unexpected ways to use a facial mist.Refreshing makeupYes, our Mists can be used over your makeup without smudging it or causing it to run. If your foundation and concealer tend to look dry or flaky towards the end of the day, or you want a dewy look, spritz a hydrating Mist onto your face throughout the day. By giving your skin this moisture boost, you’ll prevent it (and your makeup) from drying out, helping to keep it looking fresh for as long as you need it to.Enhancing makeup pigmentsSpeaking of makeup, lightly spraying your makeup brushes and sponges with your favourite facial spray can help deepen the pigments of products such as eyeshadow, blush and highlighting powders. This technique helps to enhance the drama and vibrancy of your look and can reduce the amount of product you need to use.Cooling the skinDuring summer on hot, humid days, or winter, if you’re exposed to a lot of central heating, our skin can sometimes feel like it needs a bit of cooling down. Use your face mist throughout the day to refresh and cool it. It will help soothe your skin upon contact and have a fresh, cooling effect as it evaporates.Reducing rednessSome of our Mists are targeted to specific skin concerns. Our Calendula Redness Rescue Calming Mist is specially formulated with soothing ingredients that target skin sensitivity and dehydration. Enriched with Calendula, Chamomile and Aloe Vera Leaf extracts, our Calendula Redness Rescue Calming Mist soothes dry skin, and helps to restore softness, hydration and calm red skin on the face.Controlling shineA face mist might not be the first product you think of when you want to control shine. But oiliness and shine can be byproducts of your skin overcompensating for dehydration by producing excess oil. Hydrating facial mists can help regulate oil production, as they prevent moisture loss and support the skin’s natural protective moisture barrier. If you have oily or blemish-prone skin, applying a face mist can help balance the skin and keep excess shine at bay.

WHY YOU SHOULD DOUBLE CLEANSE YOUR SKIN - Jurlique US

WHY YOU SHOULD DOUBLE CLEANSE YOUR SKIN

In recent times, many beauty publications have touted double cleansing as a major breakthrough in skin care. If you’re thinking about jumping on the double cleansing bandwagon, wondering how double cleansing differs from regular cleansing or what the real skin benefits are, you’ve come to the right place. Read on to discover the answer to your questions and more. What is double cleansing?Double cleansing, like many of our now ingrained skin care methods, originated in South Korea and Japan. Essentially, double cleansing is cleansing your skin twice. A technique that involves using two different types of cleansers after one another to deeply remove all traces of makeup, sunscreen, sweat and other surface debris from your face. What are the benefits of double cleansing?1. While cleansing your skin twice doesn’t sound like the kind of party your skin wants to attend because of the “stripping” nature of cleansing, double cleansing really gets to work and ensures that you remove every last bit of surface debris, dead skin cells and impurities that can cause skin break outs, inflammation and irritation.2. Using two different types of products to double cleanse (we’ll hash this out in a moment) means that you’re not only removing surface build-up and gunk, but you’re also getting deep down into your pores to remove pollutants – making your cleansing ritual far more effective.3. If you wear makeup daily, then this one’s for you. Double cleansing helps break down your makeup so that you’re not scrubbing at your skin or using an excess of harsh makeup wipes. There’s no more dreading removing your makeup after a long day.4. As a result of effectively cleaning your pores, another benefit is an overall more radiant, less congested, even skin tone. Clarified pores = healthier looking skin.Double cleansing methodHere’s the fun part. In order to double cleanse, all you need is: an oil cleanser, a muslin cloth or face towel, and a cream, lotion, gel or foam cleanser that suits your skin type. Once you’ve got all your tools, follow the steps below:1. Massage 2-3 pumps of your oil cleanser (we recommend our Nourishing Cleansing Oil) onto dry skin including the eye area using circular motions.2. Next you can either wet your muslin cloth, face cloth or face towel with warm water, wring out the excess water and then place the cloth onto your face gently to swipe away the product. Or as you add warm water to the Nourishing Cleansing Oil once applied - on contact with water - the oil transforms into a rich cleansing milk that hydrates and softens the skin as it removes makeup including waterproof mascara, excess oil, pollution and impurities.3. After rinsing/swiping away the emulsified oil, it’s time to cleanse with your regular cream, lotion, gel or foam cleanser and rinse off as normal.Choosing a second cleanserAs always, be sure to choose a cleanser that suits your skin type. Keep in mind with double cleansing, your regular cleansing product isn’t doing all the work alone. Gentle cleansing products will suffice and reduce any unnecessary stripping of your skin. Here are our recommendations:Dry skin:If you have dry and sensitive skin, go for our Replenishing Cleansing Lotion. It calms and conditions the skin. Featuring Marshmallow Root and Calendula Extracts, your skin will be clean and soothed.Mature skin:Go for an anti-ageing cleanser like our Nutri-Define Supreme Cleansing Foam for mature skin. With its rich and luxurious texture, it’ll be a treat for your skin after your oil cleanser step as jojoba beads gently exfoliate to reveal a youthfully luminous complexion.Blemish prone skin:Blemish prone skin is also usually associated with oily skin. So, you want something that balances the skin. Our Revitalising Cleansing Gel is perfect as its key ingredients of Peppermint Leaf Extract and Rosemary Leaf Extract soothe the skin while rebalancing oiliness.Combination skin:Combination skin needs to be simultaneously hydrated and balanced. Our Radiant Skin Foaming Cleanser is perfect for all skin types and is the go-to for combination skin. A powerful blend of antioxidant-rich botanicals leaves skin thoroughly cleansed and protected, but not dry or tight.Frequently Asked QuestionsDo I need to double cleanse in the morning?Yes! You might think your skin is clean enough from the night before, but your skin still produces grime and sweat while you sleep. By double cleansing, you’re creating a clean slate for your morning skin care and/or makeup routine. Will double cleansing make my skin oiler? No. While oil cleansers are made from oils, they don’t necessarily add more oil to your face. The purpose of oil cleanser is to lift away skin surface debris – this includes excess oil. This means your skin balances out and the production of oil and on your skin rebalances itself. Also, if you follow up with your regular cleanser, the oil cleaner washes away and doesn’t remain on your skin. Can I use coconut oil or olive as an oil cleanser? It would be great to cost-wise. However, coconut oil and olive oil are comedogenic. Meaning they clog your pores instead of cleaning them. Unlike our Nourishing Cleansing Oil which emulsifies, other oils don’t combine with water so they end up sitting on top of your skin. Cleansing oils are specifically designed to cleanse your skin, so it’s safer to steer clear of coconut and olive oil to cleanse.Double cleansing is a relatively straight forward skin care technique that really gives you noticeable results and improves the effectiveness of the products in your skin care ritual. Shop our botanical enriched, natural cleansers online now to try this technique for yourself. Image credit: @the.life.of.laura

GEL VS CREAM VS LOTION: THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MOISTURISER TEXTURES - Jurlique US

GEL VS CREAM VS LOTION: THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MOISTURISER TEXTURES

We all know that a good moisturiser plays a vital role in every skin care ritual. They seal in hydration, improve the skin’s protective barrier and lock in the benefits of the products you’ve used before it. But not all moisturisers are the same. Between gels, creams and lotions, knowing which types of moisturiser are right for your lifestyle, and best suited to you and your skin concerns, can be difficult. Here’s our ultimate guide to the different textures and how to pick the right moisturiser for you. Cream This is the one we probably all recognise – and use – the most. Moisturising creams tend to be thick and deliver intense hydration to the skin. They work by forming a protective moisture barrier that shields your skin from environmental aggressors and moisture loss, giving it time to recover and replenish itself. Most creams are best suited to dry skin, or skin that needs some extra TLC if it’s been exposed to extreme environmental conditions such as heat and snow. Our Moisture Plus Rare Rose Cream releases moisture over 24 hours via the micro-encapsulated Jurlique Rose extract, and contains Cupuacu Butter to restore moisture in drier skins. Lotions Moisturising lotions are lighter than creams but tend to be richer and heavier than gels, making them best suited to those with dry or combination skin types, or people living in dry, cool climates. Lotions sink into the skin quickly without leaving a film, making them an ideal option for daytime wear under makeup. If you have sensitive skin, look for a lotion that’s infused with botanical extract that can soothe and comfort your skin, like our Moisture Plus Rare Rose Lotion, in addition to protecting it from environmental aggressors. Gels Gel moisturisers have a lightweight formula without compromising on performance. They offer oil-free hydration that works well for combination or oily skin types, or for other skin types during warmer months and humid weather. Gels can also help rebalance skin moisture levels and leave skin looking fresh, supple and dewy. Our Moisture Plus Rare Rose Gel Cream has a super-light texture that doesn’t overload the skin and contains plant resin Mastic Gum to prevent oiliness. Find the right moisturiser for your skin type and concern online at Jurlique. THE BEST NIGHT TIME SKIN CARE ROUTINE FOR ALL SKIN TYPES - Jurlique US

THE BEST NIGHT TIME SKIN CARE ROUTINE FOR ALL SKIN TYPES

With a build-up of dirt throughout the day as well as exposure to pollution and daily aggressors, night time is probably the most important time to look after your skin. Skin repairs overnight - during sleep your skin’s circulation and blood flow increases and it will rebuild collagen and renew itself as much as possible - so it’s important to add hardworking products to your evening routine. For the best results, use products that are tailored to your skin concern - that way, you can give your skin the best chance to repair and rejuvenate while you sleep. Discover our nighttime skin care steps for every skin type below. Why you should use different skin care products at night Skin care isn’t one size fits all, and the same goes for using products for daytime vs nighttime. Our Victorian State Manager, Charlotte Lyon, says: “During the day our ritual is all about preparing for the day ahead and protecting our skin against moisture loss and environmental aggressors. Whereas at night it is all about recovering the skin from the day past and harnessing the power of natural botanicals to treat skin concerns and boost radiance in the skin. Double cleansing is a must at night and ensuring that you use serums and moisturisers that focus on optimal absorption to the skin, without creating too much of a barrier.” How to look after your skin at night 1. Cleanse Your skin goes through a lot during the day (makeup, sweat, pollution…the list is endless), so night time is the perfect time to give your face a deep clean. We recommend double cleansing for the best results. Start your night face routine with a nourishing cleansing oil or micellar water to remove makeup (if you wear it), excess oil, and impurities that may have settled throughout the day. Follow up with a water-based face cleanser to thoroughly cleanse and refresh your skin. 2. Apply a serum Thanks to their lightweight formulas that target specific skin care concerns, serums are an essential part of every ritual, plus they give your skin a much-needed boost of hydration. Our soothing, hydrating and anti-ageing face serums harness the power of farm-grown botanical extracts to help you achieve smoother, more radiant and even-toned skin. 3. Moisturise Moisturisers lock in hydration and act as a protective layer on your skin. At night, use a richer formula than you would during the day, that will nourish your skin while you sleep. Our botanical-infused restorative night creams are just the ticket to visibly smoother, glowing skin in the morning.  4. Apply an eye cream Give your eyes a little extra TLC before bed. The skin around the eyes is delicate and prone to dryness. It’s also one of the first areas to show signs of ageing, so a nourishing eye cream or gel is important. What products to use for your skin concern Focus on rich, nourishing formulas and targeted treatments. The first step is identifying your skin type: do you have normal, dry, oily or combination skin? If you’re not sure, read our guide to understanding your skin type, then choose specially formulated products that address your skin care concerns too (is your dry skin congested? Or is anti-ageing a big concern alongside oiliness?) Anti-ageing Skin with visible signs of ageing needs specially-formulated products that that work to help support collagen and elastin, which gives skin its flexibility. which gives skin its flexibility. For an anti-ageing skin care routine, or to combat the signs of fine lines and wrinkles, we recommend using Nutri-Define Supreme Cleansing Foam, Activating Water Essence+ and Nutri-Define Supreme Rejuvenating Serum, followed by Nutri-Define Supreme Restorative Rich Cream, which is our best night cream for ageing skin. Our Education Manager Charlotte says “as a booster during the week, or for particularly parched skin, add 1-2 drops of the Purely Age Defying Firming Face Oil to your moisturiser to help with elasticity and suppleness. Don’t forget to extend Serums/Creams/Oils to face, neck and décolletage.” Dry skin and hydration Dry skin can look dull and feel tight, dehydrated and rough to touch, so needs skin care products that will lock in hydration. Double cleanse skin first with either Replenishing Cleansing Lotion or Nourishing Cleansing Oil. Gently lift away dead skin build up using our iconic Daily Exfoliating Cream, by pressing this Honey, Oat and Tahini cream into skin in a press and release motion. By gently sloughing away dead, flaky skin that typically builds up when skin is dry, you will find you have better absorption of your hydration and treatment products. Follow with our Activating Water Essence+, which is a great hydration booster for skin, and Rare Rose Serum and Cream, which have been clinically proven* to provide 24 hour hydration. *Clinical evaluation of 22 people, measured 24 hours after a single application. Sensitivity Sensitive skin is easily irritated and prone to drying. It’s important to use specially formulated products that restore the skin’s moisture barrier and calm and rebalance skin. Thoroughly remove the day using Replenishing Cleansing Lotion twice. The double cleanse will ensure any oils, bacteria or impurities that could exacerbate skin irritation - ensure to use lukewarm or tepid water. We recommend using our Calendula Redness Rescue Soothing Moisturising Cream, Calendula Redness Rescue Restorative Treatment Serum and Nurturing Mask to look after your skin at night. Oil and blemish control If oiliness and blemishes are your biggest concern, treat your skin to our Revitalising Cleansing Gel, which cleanses makeup, oil and impurities in one single step. Charlotte recommends misting with “Sweet Violet & Grapefruit Mist for immediate moisture and then use Activating Water Essence+ for continuous hydration. The lightweight, water-packed formulation is well loved by oily skin.” For a moisturiser, opt for our Rare Rose Lotion, which is lightweight and non-comedogenic, and use our Purity Specialist Treatment Mask once or twice a week before bed to rebalance oiliness. Puffiness and dark circles Our Nutri-Define Supreme Eye Contour Balm is our best eye cream for lines and puffiness. It uses Snowflake Bulb extract to help restore luminosity, while Alfalfa seed and lupine protein target the appearance of under-eye puffiness. Apply with the metal ball applicator included with the Eye Contour Balm, which helps to smooth, cool and depuff the eye area promoting optimal absorption of the eye balm itself. FAQs What should a night skin care routine be? A simple night skin care routine should start with a double cleanse to thoroughly remove the day's impurities. Next, apply a serum tailored to your skin's concerns, followed by a rich night cream to hydrate and replenish your skin while you sleep. Gently pat on an eye cream around your delicate eye area to minimise dark circles and puffiness, and finish by applying a nourishing lip balm or treatment for soft, supple lips. What is good to apply on the face at night? At night, your skin shifts into repair mode, and this peaks while you sleep. Nighttime is the best time to address specific skin concerns like dullness, blemishes, dark circles or those elusive fine lines with targeted treatments. Follow with a rich, nourishing moisturiser to lock in maximum hydration. Remember to apply products from thinnest to thickest consistency for optimal absorption. What is the best serum for a night skincare routine? Our Herbal Recovery Bi-Phase Serum is a best-seller for a reason. Infused with holy basil, known as the “elixir of life", Iris root, Echinacea, Black Elderflower and potent antioxidants, this high-performing blend re-energises the skin for a smoother, softer and revitalised look. WHAT ARE NATURAL ACTIVES IN SKIN CARE? - Jurlique US

WHAT ARE NATURAL ACTIVES IN SKIN CARE?

If you’re a fan of skin care, chances are you’ve heard of retinol, ceramides and all kinds of acids…but knowing what they are, what they do and why you need them (beyond them sounding like something you’d hear in a chemistry lesson) is another thing entirely. These are the ‘actives’ that you’ll find in skin care products: the ingredient that has been scientifically proven to address the skin concern it’s meant to target. Inactive ingredients are important too, as they tend to be the ingredients that help deliver the active to your skin, such as water, or have cleansing or moisturising properties. At Jurlique, our products are natural based, which means our actives are too. Here are five natural actives you should look for.Rock Samphire ExtractAlso known as Sea Fennel or Crithmum maritimum extract, this natural marine extract has been nicknamed the ‘Retinol of the Sea’ for its ability to help firm the skin and reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Skin care experts recommend retinol for skin thanks to its ability to aid skin cell turnover and boost collagen production. Rock Samphire extract can be found in Purely Age-Defying Firming Face Oil and Calendula Redness Rescue Mist.Willow Bark ExtractWillow Bark extract – or Salix nigra extract – is high in salicin, a natural salicylic acid which helps skin cell turnover by exfoliating the skin, as well as dissolve dirt and impurities which may clog pores. Willow Bark extract is also high in tannins, phenolic acids and flavonoids, which help reduce the signs of ageing and keep skin looking firm. Find it in Purely Age-Defying Refining Treatment, Purity Specialist Treatment Mask and Radiant Skin Foaming Cleanser.Cassia angustifolia Seed PolysaccharideAlso known as Senna Seed Polysaccharide, this natural active is a plant-derived form of hyaluronic acid, which is considered a powerhouse in skin care. The benefits of hyaluronic acid include its ability to keep skin moisturised, as well as improving skin elasticity. It occurs naturally in the body but like collagen and elastin, it decreases as we get older. The extract from these seeds forms a protective film on the skin that strongly binds water to provide intense moisturisation and reduce the signs of fine lines and wrinkles. Skin feels smoother and looks plumper. Find Cassia angustifolia Seed Polysaccharide in our Moisture Plus Rare Rose range.Tremella fuciformis PolysaccharideThis rare extract is considered nature’s hyaluronic acid, holding up to 500 times its own weight of water and creating a natural, flexible film that restores dry skin to is optimal hydrated state, improving skin elasticity and promoting a healthy appearance. Tremella fuciformis is also known as ‘snow mushroom’ and looks like a white gelatinous flower. Find it in Nutri-Define Supreme Rejuvenating Serum.Red Clover Flower ExtractRed Clover Flowers are grown on the Jurlique Farm and its extract has been scientifically proven to enhance the hydrating role of hyaluronic acid and smooth out the appearance of lines and wrinkles in our Herbal Recovery Signature Serum. You’ll also find Red Clover extract (or Trifolium pratense extract) in Purely Age-Defying Refining Treatment.

7 TIPS FOR CARING FOR YOUR SKIN WHILE WEARING A FACE MASK - Jurlique US

7 TIPS FOR CARING FOR YOUR SKIN WHILE WEARING A FACE MASK

It’s safe to say that our lives have changed a lot in 2020. The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has seen most people around the world endure lockdown measures, a new way of living and working from home. The way we interact with others has changed and day to day life has a very different lens – and face masks (no, not the skin care kind) are being worn on the regular, with medical experts stressing their importance to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. But with that can come negative effects for your skin, with some people experiencing problems such as breakouts – or ‘maskne’ - rashes and itchiness from wearing a mask. We spoke to our Education Manager Charlotte Lyon to get her top tips for looking after your skin while wearing a face mask. Why does wearing a face mask affect your skin?Firstly: why the new skin problems? Surely, we’ve all been through enough? According to dermatologist Dr. Adeline Kikam, friction from the mask rubbing can cause irritant contact dermatitis, and a build up of moisture from the air inside the mask can cause breakouts – not to mention the dirt and makeup that can get trapped underneath. How to prevent skin problems when wearing a face maskThe good news is, you can minimise those skin problems and keep your skin looking and feeling healthy while wearing a protective face mask. Here are our seven top tips:1. Avoid wearing makeupWearing makeup underneath your face mask is a bit like sleeping with your makeup on – it can clog the pores and cause those unwanted blemishes. Embrace natural and avoid wearing makeup where you can, opting instead for a hydrating skin care routine. If makeup is necessary, stick to the eye area only.2. Use a gentle cleanserCleansing is always important to get rid of any dirt, impurities and unblocked pores – which is more likely while wearing a mask. Cleanse your skin morning and night using a gentle cleanser that’s suitable for sensitive skin, such as our Replenishing Cleansing Lotion.3. Stay hydratedCharlotte tells us hydrated skin is important for preventing skin problems while wearing a mask. “Ensure to increase hydration levels of the skin using Activating Water Essence,” she says. “Our Hydrating Mists can be carried and used throughout the day, when able, to also help with dehydration.”4. Use a richer moisturiser“Dry skin is a common problem in winter and can be made worse by wearing a face mask,” says Charlotte. If you feel as though you’re not receiving enough nourishment from your regular moisturiser, switch to a richer formula, or add a couple of drops of face oil to your regular cream or lotion. For very dry skin, Moisture Replenishing Day Cream is a great option to provide a superior barrier to the skin.5. Reduce redness with soothing skin care productsSensitivity and redness can be a common side effect of wearing a mask, due to the mask rubbing on the skin. Try introducing soothing and calming products into your skin care ritual, such as those in our Calendula Redness Rescue range. Calendula Cream can be used topically for affected areas to help protect and comfort.6. Protect your lipsAs well as your skin, your lips can become dry and chapped when wearing a face mask regularly. Treat and protect the lip area by applying Lip Care Balm or Rose Love Balm throughout the day (using clean fingers!)7. Choose a face mask with natural fabricsNot all face masks are created equally. “Avoid synthetic fabrics, such as nylon, polyester and rayon,” says Charlotte. “These are more likely to irritate skin and cause breakouts.” Instead, choose a face mask that’s made from a natural and breathable fabric, such as cotton, and wash it with a fragrance-free, hypoallergenic laundry detergent. With a nourishing and hydrating skin care ritual, you should be able to minimise the problems that come with wearing a face mask. Keep your hands protected too, with a moisturising hand sanitiser and read our top tips for caring for your hands.

HOW TO INSTANTLY SOOTHE SENSITIVE SKIN - Jurlique US

HOW TO INSTANTLY SOOTHE SENSITIVE SKIN

When your favourite skin care brand release a new skin care product or range, are you Type A and purchase the product right away and slather it all over? Or are you Type B and hesitant to purchase because it might exacerbate a skin concern you’ve worked hard to get under control? If you’re Type B, you most likely have sensitive skin. Whether you’re dealing with redness, irritation, or uneven skin tone, ongoing skin sensitivity can be challenging to deal with.At Jurlique, we believe in not only treating the symptoms of sensitivity, but also addressing the underlying causes and solving them through a combination of natural ingredients and a consistent skin care ritual. Read on for our top 3 tips for caring for sensitive skin and recommended skin care products for sensitive skin.1. Choose the right ingredientsNo matter what skin type you have, it’s a good idea to avoid synthetic chemical ingredients in your everyday skin care ritual. However, it’s especially important to have natural-based skin care for sensitive skin, as it may react poorly to many synthetic ingredients.Instead, opt for naturally derived ingredients that nourish and calm your skin, rather than aggravating it further. Ingredients to gravitate toward include:Calendula Flower Extract, has pronounced soothing properties and has been used to rebalance sensitivity on the skin and throughout the body.Chamomile Flower Extract, which carries calming and hydrating benefits. A great natural ingredient for both dry and combination sensitive skin types.Echinacea Extract is an astringent herb that offers soothing properties and can help balance the skinJurlique Rose extract, which can only be exclusively found in some Jurlique products, is scientifically proven to enhance the skin’s barrier function and help it retain essential moisture. You can find all of these ingredients in our Calendula Redness Rescue and Moisture Plus Rare Rose.2. Be gentle with you skinLet every action you make upon your skin be gentle and soft. While choosing the right products plays a part in managing sensitive skin, your skin care application techniques are equally important.Avoid any actions that tug your skin as this can make irritation worse. Here’s what that looks like in practice:If you wear makeup, instead of removing it with a makeup wipe, use a cleansing oil in gentle circular motion. When you follow up with a gentle cleanser, use those same delicate motions.During your moisturiser, serum or face oil step – pat and press the product in instead of rubbing. When you have sensitive skin, physical exfoliation can be intimidating, and you’d be right to proceed with caution. A lot of physical exfoliators are abrasive and can do more harm than good. Look for something non-abrasive like our Daily Exfoliating Cream – you apply it to your skin in a press-release motion (so no rough rubbing) and it gently lifts and removes dead skin and impurities.3. Keep it coolFor soothing sensitive skin, consider keeping your skincare products in the fridge until it’s time to apply them.Apart from the instant refreshing hit, there’s anecdotal evidence that the cooler temperature causes blood vessels to contract, immediately reducing the appearance of redness.Skin sensitivity is a challenge, but with the right skin care products and techniques, it can be managed. To soothe and protect your skin, shop our Calendula Redness Rescue range online now.Need more guidance? We’ve got quite the selection! HOW TO GET ‘GLASS SKIN’ IN JUST 5 STEPS - Jurlique US

HOW TO GET ‘GLASS SKIN’ IN JUST 5 STEPS

HOW TO GET ‘GLASS SKIN' IN JUST 5 STEPS Yes, you read it correctly. Just 5 steps! If you’re a skin care aficionado, you most definitely have heard of “glass skin” by now and know that it involves a longer routine than five steps. Read on to discover how to get glass skin naturally. What is glass skin? Before we get started, let’s get into what glass skin is. The term originated – like many other beauty trends – in the Korean beauty (K-Beauty) space and describes skin that is luminous, clear and unblemished. If you look at somebody with the glass skin look, their skin is even, smooth and free of any visible texture like pores, bumps or rough patches – hence the comparison to glass.Originally, glass skin is achieved through a multi-step K-beauty routine that can include up to 10 different products and steps. Understandably, this can be impractical for many women. Thankfully, you can achieve the same effect in less time and with half the amount of products. Our 5-step glass skincare ritual 1. Cleanse If you asked us which one of these steps is non-negotiable, it would be the cleanser step. Glass skin starts with a thorough, double cleanse every night. Start with a cleansing oil like our Nourishing Cleansing Oil and muslin cloth to remove any makeup, sunscreen and surface debris, then follow it up with a gentle cream, gel or foam cleanser. 2. Essence Is it really a K-Beauty skin trend if there isn’t any essence involved? A hydrating essence like our Activating Water Essence enhances your skin’s ability to retain moisture and helps it better absorb your other products. To apply, pour a couple of drops into your palms, place your hands together and gently twist to activate the essence. Gently pat lightly onto your skin until it completely absorbs. 3. Serum Once your essence has had some time to absorb and your skin is now fully prepped, it’s time to apply your serum. Serums typically are packed with a high concentration of active ingredients. Think of it as treatment for your skin depending on your concern – it’s where the magic happens. If ageing is your concern, try our Nutri-Define Supreme Rejuvenating Serum to help reduce the appearance of deep lines and wrinkles. Struggling with parched skin? Hydration is key for glass skin so we recommend our Moisture Plus Rare Rose Serum to deliver intense hydration and restore your skin’s natural glow. Finally, you can soothe any rough patches or redness with our Calendula Serum. 4. Oil Now that you have on all of your water-based hydrating products, you’re going to want to seal it all in with a facial oil. Sealing in moisture supports your skin’s protective barrier. Depending on your skin type, it’s best to consider which oil will work on your skin best. Drier skin types might need a more hydrating oil, while oiler skin types benefit from a balancing oil. A glass skin must have. 5. Moisturise The theme with glass skin is hydration and moisture. We have our essence, serum, oil all applied and now we’re kicking it up a notch with a moisturiser. As with all products, choose a moisturiser that works with your skin type and one that’s appropriate for the time of day – in practice, this usually means saving richer, heavier creams for overnight use and applying gels and lighter lotions during the day. While moisturiser is the final step, we think there’s no such thing as too much glow. So we recommend spritzing your skin with our favourite Rosewater Balancing Mist to support moisture balance and leave you with dewy, radiant and supple look to the skin. Bonus Tips or Glass Skin Apply firming eye cream. You won't get glass skin if you neglect eye care. Lightly dab an eye cream to help address dark circles, puffiness and dehydration. Never skip sunscreen (daytime only). Apply SPF daily to protect your skin from UV damage and prevent premature ageing and hyperpigmentation. We recommend a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 50, like our UV Defence Daily Lotion SPF 50+.  Use targeted face masks once a week. Perfect as part of a weekly self-care routine to pamper and replenish your skin. Embrace a healthy diet and lifestyle. Getting glass skin isn’t just about products; it's about taking care of yourself too! Drink lots of water, eat well, get enough sleep (8 hours), exercise regularly and manage stress. With consistent use of the right products, glass skin is well within your reach. Shop our natural-based face skin care, lip care, hand care and body care online now, or visit our blog for more skin care tips FAQs How do you get glass skin? The secret to that coveted dewy, glowing 'glass skin' is simple – drench your skin in moisture. Think hydrating moisturisers, serums, mists, essences, oils and face masks. Gentle cleansers, exfoliants and sunscreen are also glass skin must-haves. Skincare alone isn't enough. You'll also need to balance things with healthy lifestyle habits like getting enough sleep, plenty of water, exercise, and a balanced diet. Is glass skin realistic? Glass skin is one of the most realistic skincare trends since it's all about hydration. The key is to layer super-hydrating products so skin looks dewy and plump. But don’t expect your skin to transform overnight – keep it consistent, and you'll eventually get closer to glass-like skin. Can I achieve glass skin with sensitive skin? Yes, people with sensitive skin can achieve glass skin. Look for products for glass skin with gentle and calming ingredients like aloe vera or chamomile. If you're unsure, consult a dermatologist to find the best glass skin treatment for sensitive skin. How do you know you have glass skin? Glass skin is exactly what it sounds like – skin so even, smooth, and luminous that it looks reflective and translucent like glass. Genes play a role for sure, but anyone can get that 'glass skin' glow with the right combination of glass skin products.  How to get glass skin in 7 days? Want to achieve your healthiest, dewy, luminous glow in a week? Follow a consistent glass skin routine: double cleanse, exfoliate, and apply a hydrating toner, serum, moisturiser and sunscreen. Don't forget to stay hydrated and fully rested.

IS YOUR CLEANSER CAUSING YOUR BREAKOUTS? - Jurlique US

IS YOUR CLEANSER CAUSING YOUR BREAKOUTS?

Have you been experiencing unexplained breakouts recently? It might be due to the stress of the pandemic, lockdown and maskne (yes, it’s a real thing), but it might be something as simple as the cleanser you’re using. In fact, a lot of people breakout after using a new cleanser, which seems like an oxymoron…aren’t they supposed to clean your skin? Well, yes, but if you’re not using one that’s well-suited to your skin type, cleansers can cause a skin pH imbalance which results in irritation and can cause sudden breakouts. The best way to avoid it is to choose the best cleanser for your skin type and skin concerns. How can cleanser cause breakouts?A cleanser that is too harsh for your skin type can cause breakouts by disrupting the skin’s natural protective moisture barrier and stripping away essential oils and moisture. This can leave skin feeling dry, tight and vulnerable to oil imbalances, which can lead to breakouts. Your skin’s protective moisture barrier also prevents bacterial growth that can cause blemishes, so if it’s disrupted, that bacteria can flourish. The wrong cleanser can also disrupt the naturally acidic pH of your skin, making it more vulnerable to infection and damage. What cleanser should I use?So, it’s important to choose the right cleanser for radiant, healthy-looking skin.
