YOUR STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE TO THE JURLIQUE SKIN CARE RITUAL - Jurlique US

YOUR STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE TO THE JURLIQUE SKIN CARE RITUAL

At Jurlique, we pride ourselves on our six-step skin care ritual. While it may seem excessive – especially compared to the traditional three-step cleanse, tone and moisturise routines – each step is beneficial for the skin. And for us, it’s not just a ‘routine’, we call it a ritual for a reason. It’s our form of self-care, a time to slow down, focus on ourselves and our wellbeing and look after our entire selves: mind, body and soul. Discover our guide to the Jurlique skin care ritual below.CLEANSELike every good skin care routine, cleansing is the first step of the Jurlique ritual. Cleanse twice daily and embrace the double-cleanse in the evenings for a deeper clean (the first cleanse removes dirt, debris and makeup, while the second cleanse unclogs the pores). Choose a natural-based face cleanser like our Nourishing Cleansing Oil or discover all our cleansers here. MISTWe do things differently at Jurlique. We don’t have a traditional ‘toner’ but we have Mists instead (our Rosewater Balancing Mist is kind of a big deal). Packed with natural botanical extracts, our Mists provide instant hydration, helping skin to feel soothed and balanced. After cleansing, close your eyes and spritz your mist around your face. Gently press into your skin to help the ingredients absorb. ACTIVATING WATER ESSENCEActivating Water Essence hydrates and preps the skin to help it absorb the rest of your skin care products. It also contains emollients and high-performing botanical extracts to attract and hold water for a smoother, softer and healthier-looking complexion. To apply, pour a couple of drops into your palms and press gently onto the face, neck and décolletage. Want to know more? Discover 5 reasons to use Activating Water Essence. SERUMFace serums are lightweight (but potent) formulas designed to provide your skin with extra hydration as well as target specific skin care concerns (read our guide to choosing a serum that addresses what you need best). With serums, a little goes a long way - gently press 1-2 pumps of the formula over your face, neck and décolletage and leave to sink in before you move on to the next step. EYE CAREThe skin around the eyes is delicate and prone to dryness. It’s also one of the first areas to show signs of ageing, so a nourishing eye cream or gel is important (for those first signs of ageing, Herbal Recovery Signature Eye Cream is our best eye cream for wrinkles and dark circles). Eye creams are formulated for different skin care concerns, so choose one that suits your needs most and gently press and smooth the cream around your eye contour area using your ring fingers. MOISTURISERRich and creamy, moisturisers seal in hydration, improve the skin’s protective barrier, and lock in the benefits of the products you’ve used before it. Like other skin care products, moisturisers target different skin care concerns and can be used at different times. A richer formula is great for your nighttime ritual, while lightweight moisturisers tend to work well for day and in hotter climates. The final step of all good skin care rituals is a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher. Sun has damaging effects on the skin so it’s essential to use it every day, even in winter or when it’s overcast. At Jurlique, we’re yet to find a sunscreen formula that we’re happy with so while we wait, choose your favourite to end your skin care ritual with.

5 WAYS TO SWITCH YOUR SERUM INTO POWER MODE - Jurlique US

5 WAYS TO SWITCH YOUR SERUM INTO POWER MODE

When it comes to high-performing skincare, a serum is your MVP. A concentrated blend of active ingredients designed to create change on your skin, adding a serum into your skincare routine is a really effective way to reach a multitude of skin goals. Here are five ways to get the most out of your serum: 1. BUT FIRST, CLEANSEWe shouldn’t have to say it but we will: don’t even think about applying your serum to your skin unless it’s freshly cleansed. Give the concentrated actives in your serum the best possible chance to deep dive into the layers of the skin, without first having to wade through any debris (in this case: sweat, sunscreen, makeup). 2. WAY TO GLOWFor a guaranteed glow, first apply a hydrating mask for 10-15 minutes. Wipe or tissue off then apply a few drops of your favourite serum for renewed radiance. 3. ACTIVATE YOUR BEST SKINA skincare boost from the South Australian Hills: Activating Water Essence preps skin to absorb and enhance the full benefit of serums and moisturisers. It's made from softening marshmallow root extract from our Jurlique Farm in South Australia. 4. BAN THE BRUSHAvoid the trend of applying serums with a makeup or facial brush; you’ll lose precious product soaked up into the brush hairs. Instead, use your fingertips to lightly massage your serum directly into the skin. Apply any excess to your neck and backs of your hands. 5. THE PERFECT FINISHTo really amplify the effects of your serum, apply to the skin and leave for a few minutes (while you brush your teeth or get dressed for the day). Then add a moisturiser over the top to seal in the serum and protect and hydrate the skin. Try the power couple that is Moisture Plus Rare Rose Serum and Moisture Plus Rare Rose Lotionn. Together, they’ve been clinically proven to visibly plump and smooth skin and renew radiance in just 7 days*. OUR FAVOURITE MORNING RITUALS FOR FRESH LOOKING SKIN - ALL DAY, EVERYDAY - Jurlique US

OUR FAVOURITE MORNING RITUALS FOR FRESH LOOKING SKIN - ALL DAY, EVERYDAY

Confession time: no, we did not wake up like this. Great skin takes preparation and good behaviour. Here, we share a few of our favourite morning rituals that help us hit our hydration and glow goals. 1. START WITH SLEEPTo have a great skin day, you really need to have had 8 hours of restful sleep the night before. Plan ahead by avoiding sleep-disturbing stimulants like caffeine, sugar, and alcohol in the evening, log off all devices at least an hour before bed, and hit your silk pillow before 10pm. Wake to skin glowing with gratitude. 2. BEAUTY BEGINS FROM WITHINStarting your day with a genuinely positive mindset will help you radiate fresh-faced optimism. A couple of ways to get you into a healthy head space: set a positive intention for the day by repeating a mantra or affirmations that resonate, practise some yoga poses, or meditate. As British author Roald Dahl said: “If you have good thoughts it will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.” 3. WORK UP A SWEATAs the body’s largest organ, the skin loves and appreciates a workout. Raising your heart rate (and a decent sweat) boosts your skin’s circulation and natural radiance. Find a form of exercise you love and can commit to, even if all you have time for is a 10-minute power walk around the block. Just do it. 4. SELF CARETaking good, consistent care of your skin is the best form of self-care. Start your day by cleansing your skin, then apply a hydrating serum, followed by a nurturing moisturiser to hydrate and protect you from the skin stresses of the day ahead. We love the 24-hour hydration of the Moisture Plus Rare Rose range. 5. HYDRATE INSIDE & OUTJust as you can literally see dehydration in the skin (hey there fine lines), drinking 8 glasses of water a day really helps skin look fresh, smooth, and radiant. Start strong by drinking two glasses upon waking and continue through the day. Overachievers eat water-dense fruits and vegetables such as berries, watermelon, cucumbers, and celery for extra credit. P.S. Don’t forget how drying your environment can be. Keep a hydrating facial mist close by for an instant skin refresh to combat the drying effects of sun exposure, air-conditioning and central heating. We don’t make a move without Rosewater Balancing Mist. 6. FAKE ITFor whatever reason, and there’s always a reason, you haven’t been able to commit to any of the above. Freshen up fatigued skin by adding a few drops of a tinted bronzer or illuminator into your moisturiser or foundation. And promise to do better tomorrow.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT FACE OILS - Jurlique US

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT FACE OILS

Face oils have been around forever, but the buzz has been building over the past few years - and for good reason: a good face oil can be a complexion game-changer (we swear by them at Jurlique HQ). A couple of drops of a high-performance oil can hydrate, smooth and soften your skin (hello fewer lines and wrinkles), and make it more resilient – not to mention give you an enviable glow. Here’s what to look for in a face oil, and how to use it for the most radiant results. What are face oils?Face oils are concentrated skin care products that contain botanical extracts, vitamins and minerals. They come in an array of varieties, from individual oils that tend to focus on one skin care concern, to blends that contain several oils and treat multiple concerns. All face oils use a carrier oil as a base, such as Safflower Oil in our face oil range, which ‘carries’ the ingredients onto the skin and stops the essential oils from evaporating. The benefits of using face oilsFace oils are nourishing and moisturising, supplementing the oil your skin already produces. They’re also hydrophobic, meaning they help to improve the skin’s natural barrier to seal in moisture. High-quality plants oils are rich in fatty acids to help restore moisture to the skin and plant-based antioxidants to fight against environmental aggressors. Contrary to popular belief, face oils work for all skin types. With dry skin, a face oil will absorb into the skin and lock in moisture, while oily skin will benefit too, with the right face oil regulating and balancing the skin. How to use a face oilFace oils can be used on their own, but we like to use them in addition to our regular moisturiser. After cleansing, misting and applying your Activating Water Essence and serum, mix two drops of oil into your moisturiser. Warm between fingertips and gently press onto your face, neck and décolletage every morning and night to achieve soft, smooth and radiant-looking skin (use a jade roller to massage the product into the face). How to choose a face oilNot all oils are created equal – look for natural, high-quality plant-based oils that will nourish the skin and won’t clog your pores, rather than synthetic and mineral oils that are comedogenic (meaning they tend to cause blackheads by blocking the pores of the skin). Face oils target different skin care concerns, so choose a face oil depending on what you need most. All skin typesRecommended oil: Jurlique Skin Balancing Face Oil. With Rose Hip, Safflower, Macadamia and Avocado Oils, this hero product nourishes and balances the skin, and addresses signs of uneven skin tone too.Dull, tired and ageing skinRecommended oil: Jurlique Herbal Recovery Antioxidant Face Oil. This blend is full of antioxidant-rich botanical oils (Grapeseed, Avocado and Rose Hip) that revitalise the complexion, and helps minimise first signs of ageing and protect against environmental aggressors.Mature skinRecommended oil: Jurlique Purely Age-Defying Firming Face Oil. This oil contains Blackcurrant Seed Oil which deeply hydrates and helps firm and smooth skin, and Rock Samphire extract which, thanks to its ability to help firm the skin and reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles, has been nicknamed the “Retinol of the sea”.Good face oils hydrate, soften and revitalise the skin while protecting it from environmental aggressors – the perfect way to amplify your skin care ritual. Jurlique face oils are made up of pure, plant-based oils to nourish skin. Find one that suits your skin type here.

HOW TO GET RID OF TIRED-LOOKING EYES - Jurlique US

HOW TO GET RID OF TIRED-LOOKING EYES

Do you have dry, dark or puffy eyes? You’re not alone. The skin surrounding our eyes are seriously thin, so tired-looking eyes can be caused by more than a lack of sleep. If you are looking less-than-fresh, it could be because of genetics, ageing, allergies, diet, sun damage, or too much screen time. To brighten up the eye area and hide the signs of fatigue, take on these expert tips. APPLY A SPECIALISED EYE CREAMEye creams are formulated for different skin care concerns, so choose one that suits your needs most. Our eye creams are packed full of potent, plant-based ingredients from the Jurlique Farm to minimise the symptoms of tired-looking eyes. PUFFINESS AND DARK CIRCLESWe recommend: Jurlique Herbal Recovery Signature Eye Cream. Silk Tree extract in this deeply nourishing product addresses common signs of fatigue – it’s our best eye cream for tired, puffy eyes. DEHYDRATION AND FINE LINESWe recommend: Jurlique Purely Age-Defying Firming Eye Cream. Rich in plant-based antioxidants, this eye gel soothes and hydrates the skin, diminishing signs of dehydration and fine lines, packed with Green Coffee extract and Ascorbyl Glucoside, this eye cream helps address loss of dehydration, as well as reduce visible lines and wrinkles. DEEP WRINKLES AND SIGNS OF AGEINGWe recommend: Jurlique Nutri-Define Eye Contour Balm. A rich and highly concentrated anti-ageing balm, this product is designed to improve the appearance of deep lines, crow’s feet and dark circles around the eyes. DISCOLOURATION AND DARK CIRCLESWe recommend: Jurlique Purely White Skin Brightening Eye Correcting Cream. This is a high-performance eye cream, packed with our exclusive plant-based and Vitamin C-rich VitaBrightKX complex to even skin tone and discolouration. It also reduces the appearance of dark circles, puffiness and dehydration. REFRESH YOUR EYES WITH EYE DROPSWe’re all guilty of spending too much time in front of screens and digital devices, and when we do we strain our eyes and blink less. This can cause our eyes to become bloodshot and dry, making the eye area look tired. To balance this, try and look away from digital screens every 20 minutes and close your eyes, and use lubricating eye drops as needed. REDUCE PUFFINESSThere’s a reason our favourite chick flicks all have scenes of the main characters sporting cucumber slices on their eyes when face masking. The coolness of the slices relieves puffiness and can give the eye area a real hydration boost. Don’t have any cucumber to hand? Place two metal spoons in the fridge overnight and use the rounded side to massage your eye area – the coolness will help firm up swollen skin and the massage will help with lymphatic drainage. SWITCH UP YOUR DIETIt’s not just what we put on our faces, but what we eat can have a knock-on effect on our appearance too. For foods that brighten your eyes, look for those rich in vitamin C (oranges, broccoli, kale and strawberries), which can help with the appearance of dark circles and under eye bags. Antioxidant-rich foods (leafy greens, blueberries and eggs) help to give the skin surrounding the eye area a healthy glow, while yellow and orange veggies reduce the appearance of eye discolouration. And what to avoid? You knew it was coming - alcohol and salt can lead to swelling and puffiness under the eyes, so try and cut down on your intake. Don’t just leave it to make up and super-charged concealers – deal with your tired-looking eyes by adding an eye cream to your skin care ritual. Discover our range of eye creams to suit every skin concern here.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT ANTI-AGEING SKIN CARE - Jurlique US

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT ANTI-AGEING SKIN CARE

It’s never too early to start taking care of your skin. Whether you’re in the prevention-is-better-than-cure stage or your skin is ready for a helping hand, it’s worth adding anti-ageing products to your ritual. Think of them as skin care saviours, made to soften and smooth your skin, leaving it more supple. Our experts explain the process and give us their anti-ageing beauty secrets – from the best anti-ageing products to use, to daily anti-ageing lifestyle tips. HOW DOES SKIN AGE?It’s no secret that the appearance and texture of skin changes over time. It’s a natural process that begins in your mid-20s, when our collagen and elastin production declines, but environmental aggressors such as stress, pollution, dehydration, poor diet and lack of sleep can accelerate it. And, of course, there’s sun exposure, which is one of (if not the) greatest cause of premature ageing. WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF USING ANTI-AGEING SKIN CARE?While we’re all for embracing natural beauty at any age, anti-ageing skin care products can help combat the signs of ageing and keep your skin feeling soft and supple and looking heathy. These specially-formulated products work to stimulate collagen production (skin’s natural filler) and restore elastin, which gives skin its flexibility. Anti-ageing products also deliver antioxidants, such as vitamins A and C, to the skin, which help to protect it from environmental stressors. They also contain Glycolic acid – a natural acid which helps to resurface and regenerate skin, improving its tone and texture. Jurlique Herbal Recovery skin care next to gold rings on table CHOOSING AN ANTI-AGEING SKIN CARE RITUAL THAT’S RIGHT FOR YOUUse targeted, active products that address the signs of ageing, like lines, wrinkles, dehydration and a loss of firmness and definition. When it comes to an anti-ageing routine, serum and eye creams are vital additions. But we need different anti-ageing products at different stages of our lives – someone in their late 20s witnessing their first signs of ageing will need products that have different formulas and benefits to someone in their late 50s who has advanced signs of ageing, so choose your ritual carefully. FIRST SIGNS OF AGEINGThe first signs of ageing are typically dullness, dryness, fatigue and fine lines, which start to appear in your late 20s and 30s. We recommend using our Herbal Recovery skin care range at this stage, which is packed with Viola Tricolor, Yarrow and Cedar Bud extracts to help hydrate skin and smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. VISIBLE AND ADVANCED SIGNS OF AGEINGIt’s in our 40s that we tend to see fine lines, loss of elasticity, irregular texture and uneven skin tone, and our 50s when deep-set wrinkles, age spots and discolouration start to appear. At this stage, we recommend using our Nutri-Define range. Containing active ingredients such as Horseradish Root and Peppermint Leaf extracts, Nutri-Define effectively targets advanced signs of ageing such as sagging skin, deep lines and wrinkles. No matter what your anti-ageing skin care ritual, always remember to apply your skin care to your neck and décolletage and exfoliate a couple of times a week to refine and repair skin. Jurlique Nutri-Define range next to flowers on table DON’T FORGET YOUR HANDSLike the skin on our face, our hands are one of the first places to show signs of ageing and need extra care than the skin on our body. Air conditioning, extreme weather conditions, pollutants and sun exposure can affect the look and feel of skin on the hands, so apply a rich and nourishing hand creams regularly throughout the day. BE DILIGENT WITH SPFSun has damaging effects on the skin so it’s essential to use an SPF every day, even in winter or when it’s overcast. At Jurlique, we’re yet to find a sunscreen formula that we’re happy with so while we wait, choose your favourite to end your skin care ritual with. Wear sunglasses and a hat to avoid squinting, which can cause crow’s feet and lines to form. Of course, anti-ageing isn’t just about skin care but your lifestyle, too. Cutting down on sugar, getting eight hours’ of sleep a night, eating anti-ageing foods (those rich in omega-3s) and drinking at least 2L of water a day all help to keep the ageing process at bay. Shop our Herbal Recovery range and Nutri-Define range for our natural-based anti-ageing skin care products.

THE 5 COMMANDMENTS FOR CLEAR SKIN - Jurlique US

THE 5 COMMANDMENTS FOR CLEAR SKIN

The 5 Commandments to Clear Skin We all want clear, radiant skin but sometimes it’s easier said than done. The condition of your skin comes down to a combination of genetics and lifestyle, but there are a few steps you can take to clear up your complexion. To do it the natural way, follow these clear skin tips: CLEANSE MORNING AND NIGHT Cleansing is the essential first step of a clear skin routine. Even if you’re tired, don’t skip this step or use a wipe or any old cleanser – go for a gentle one that won’t strip the skin or upset its pH balance. In the morning, cleanse to refresh the skin and lift any sweat or dirt that accumulated overnight. In the evening, the best thing to do is double cleanse to ensure you get rid of everything that’s built up throughout the day – first, use a cleansing oil such as our Nourishing Cleansing Oil to remove makeup, dirt and grime, and then use a regular cleanser such as our Radiant Skin Foaming Cleanser to deeply cleanse your skin. STICK TO A SKIN CARE RITUAL After cleansing, use one of our toning facial mists to purify, soothe and balance your skin. Follow up with our Activating Water Essence to boost hydration, then apply a serum such as our Moisture Plus Rare Rose Serum to help hydrate and restore your skin. Seal in hydration with a nourishing moisturiser or facial oil – our Skin Balancing Face Oil is suitable for all skin types and can be applied directly to the face to deeply nourish and balance skin. New to face oils? Read our Everything You Need to Know About Face Oils for everything you need to know. STOP TOUCHING YOUR FACE We all touch our faces throughout the day – whether it’s resting our face in our hands, picking blemishes or unconsciously touching areas of the face. But in doing so, bacteria can be transferred from your hands to your face, which can lead to congested skin. If you have spots, use a spot treatment instead of popping them and make an effort to minimise how many times you touch your face. The same principle applies to your phone as well – sanitize the screen with an antibacterial wipe once a day and use earbuds when making calls whenever possible. CHOOSE SKIN CARE PRODUCTS THAT SUIT YOUR SKIN CONCERN Your skin concern should dictate the products you use as you’ll have different needs accordingly - if you use the right products, they’ll absorb into your skin and work more effectively (read our Understanding Your Skin Type if you’re unsure). If you have acne-prone skin, be careful not to over-treat it and only apply the recommended amount of product as per the packaging. LOOK AT YOUR DIET AND LIFESTYLE It’s not just skin care products – you can take on a few diet and lifestyle habits for clear skin, too. Drink at least 2L of water a day and enjoy foods rich in omega-3s and vitamins A, B and C (read our guide to skin-loving wholefoods). Exercise regularly to boost circulation, help reduce stress and give skin a healthy flush, and try to 5 ways to combat stressed-out skin (our stress hormones increase oil production, so you’re more likely to break out when you’re stressed).Get the clear complexion you’ve always wanted by taking care of your skin from the inside out. Shop our natural-based face skin care, eye care, lip care, hand care and body care here to help clear congestion and boost radiance. FAQs How to get clear skin naturally? Stick to a consistent routine using products for clear skin. Start with a simple regimen – cleansing, toning, moisturising and sunscreen for the daytime. Your skin may also benefit from a few healthy lifestyle habits, such as getting enough sleep, drinking plenty of water, eating a balanced diet, exercising regularly and managing stress. And what to avoid? You guessed it right – alcohol, sugar and processed foods. How to clear skin overnight? While there is no magic wand for making unwanted acne or blemish disappear, there are certain things you can do to wake up to clear skin overnight. Wash your face with a gentle cleanser. Follow with a hydrating toner. Apply a nutrient-rich serum. Use a hydrating mask before bed to replenish and soften skin. Lock in moisture with a nourishing night cream or face oil. Get enough sleep – there’s a reason it’s called beauty sleep. Is it possible to have 100% clear skin? Having completely '100% clear' skin is not realistically possible for most people due to genetics and environmental factors. But with a consistent skincare routine and healthy lifestyle, you can definitely improve your skin and get a clearer complexion. What is clear skin? When we talk about clear skin, we typically mean skin with an even tone and smooth texture that reflects light without being shiny. Clear skin is mostly free from blemishes, with barely visible pores and little to no imperfections.  Why won’t my skin clear? While we all want a clear face, it's normal to have uneven tone and texture. Genetics, skincare routine, and lifestyle can all influence your skin’s appearance. Clogged pores, a major culprit of uneven skin, occur when sebum mixes with dead skin cells and blocks your pores. These clogged pores can trap bacteria and develop into bumps, whiteheads or blackheads.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT SENSITIVE SKIN - Jurlique US

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT SENSITIVE SKIN

Sensitive skin is incredibly common, and easily triggered by the environment, allergies and the clothes you wear. To treat your sensitive skin, it’s important to use calming skin care products and steer clear of aggressors that might set it off. From the skin care products to use to what to avoid, here are our sensitive skin care tips. WHAT CAUSES SKIN SENSITIVITY?Sensitivity can be caused by many different things including genetics, ageing, allergies, hormonal imbalances or medications that increase sensitivity. The environment and change in the elements (such as heat, humidity, wind and snow) can also cause sensitivity, along with poor diet, drinking too much alcohol, stress, dehydration and use of harsh cosmetics. Some fabrics, like wool, can also irritate skin, so choose clothes made with natural fibres, such as cotton and bamboo, and buy a laundry detergent that’s formulated for sensitive skin. THE SYMPTOMS OF SKIN SENSITIVITYThe tell-tale signs of sensitive skin include dryness, tightness, redness and blotchiness. Irritation – such as itchiness, visible rashes, tingling or burning – and flaky skin and broken veins on the nose and cheeks can also be signs that you have sensitive skin. HOW TO MANAGE AND TREAT SENSITIVE SKINSensitive skin is easily irritated and prone to drying. To soothe skin and prevent the symptoms from flaring up, use specially formulated natural products that restore the skin’s protective barrier and calm and rebalance skin. At Jurlique, the hero ingredient in our sensitive skin range is Calendula, a powerful botanical known for its calming and comforting properties.Calendula Redness Rescue Calming Mist is our best facial mist for dry, sensitive skin. Use it before applying Calendula Redness Rescue Restorative Treatment Serum and Calendula Redness Rescue Soothing Moisturising Cream in your skin care ritual, and be aware of any triggers that irritate your skin. WHAT TO AVOID IF YOU HAVE SENSITIVE SKINSensitive skin can flare up easily – and prevention is better than cure. Avoid products with common irritants like artificial colours, fragrances and sulphates. Steer clear of harsh exfoliants, which can aggravate the skin (choose something gentle like our Daily Exfoliating Cream instead) and don’t use makeup, skin care, medication or topical treatments that are past their expiry date. EAT ANTI-INFLAMMATORY FOODSSensitivity is a form of inflammation, so add anti-inflammatory foods to your diet such as leafy greens, broccoli, turmeric, ginger, spinach, nuts and avocado to avoid flare ups. Avoid spicy foods and hot drinks, which can cause redness, and cut down on caffeine, alcohol and processed sugar. Try and calm the mind and body too, by practising yoga or meditation. Cup of turmeric latte with fresh ginger If you’re experiencing skin sensitivity, treat yourself to a skin care ritual that’s soothing and calming. Shop our specialised range here.

THE BENEFITS OF USING CLEANSING OILS - Jurlique US

THE BENEFITS OF USING CLEANSING OILS

What is a cleansing oil? Should I use one and why? Are they suitable for oily skin?...Many of us may have these questions in mind when we first hear about cleansing oils. You may be skeptical to try it especially when you have combination, oily or acne-prone skin. But we can tell you that a facial cleansing oil is not as scary as we think! Here, we answer all your questions about this cult skin care trend.cleansing oil in bathroom CLEANSING OIL VS CLEANSERSIn general, there are two types of cleansers on the market: water-based and oil-based cleansers.Water-based cleansers, such as foaming gels, foaming lotions and micellar water, cleanse our faces based on the concept of rinsing away the particles from the outermost layer of skin. Think of a foam cleanser as your regular old soap but specifically formulated for your face. It is ideal to remove oils and makeup for all skin types, but if you’re using a foam cleanser and finding it a little bit too harsh on your skin, you should consider switching to cleansing oils.On the other hand, micellar water is a gentler type of water-based cleanser. Non-soap and water soluble, it can collect the dirt and makeup on the skin without making your skin feel dry. This is an easy and convenient face cleansing option as you don’t need to rinse with water afterwards, however it is recommended to cleanse your face with another type of cleanser after micellar water in order to keep all the clogged dirt at bay.Cleansing oil is an oil-based cleanser that works on an ‘oil attracts oil’ basis - think ‘good’ oils dissolving the ‘bad’ oils that have accumulated on the skin’s surface which are makeup, excess oil and debris. However, unlike the traditional foam cleansers which could dry your face, cleansing oils can balance your skin’s natural oils and keep your skin nourished and moisturised. It is gentle on your face and suitable for all skin types (even people with oily or acne-prone skin!)Try our Nourishing Cleansing Oil – this lightweight and silky oil is enriched with smoothing Black Elderflower extract, and transforms into a milk when emulsified with water. It removes makeup including waterproof mascara, heavy or mineral based makeup, sunscreen and primers effectively and nourishes the complexion to improve suppleness that makes your skin feels smoother, softer and looks more radiant. Once you try it, you will fall in love with the scent like we have!Optional: If you would like to try adopting the double cleanse method in your skin care ritual, a cleansing oil will be your best product to use in the first step of the double cleanse, followed by a water-based cleanser. cleansing oil on golden silk BENEFITS OF CLEANSING OILSThe main benefits of using a cleansing oil are:• Gently removes makeup• Lifts dirt, impurities and excess oil from the skin for a deep cleanse• Clears pores• Balances the skin’s oil production• Delivers antioxidants and vitamins to the skin (our Nourishing Cleansing Oil contains natural seed oils and botanicals that helps nourish and smooth to reveal softer, brighter and younger-looking skin)• Leaves the skin feeling soft, smooth and hydrated• Boosts circulation and gives skin a healthy glow by massaging the oil into skin HOW TO OIL CLEANSE FACE AND HOW OFTENMassage 2-3 pumps of cleansing oil onto dry skin including eye area. Add warm water to emulsify and then rinse thoroughly. Use morning and night as first step of your skin care ritual. If irritation occurs, rinse thoroughly.Bonus tip: To exfoliate dead skin cells, remove the oil with a warm washcloth 2-3 times a week. cleansing oil with petals SO, SHOULD YOU USE ONE?We would say: choose your cleanser based on your personal preference to textures and makeup habits. For instance, if you wear heavy or waterproof makeup daily, it is recommended to use a cleansing oil. If you have dry skin, it may be better to skip foam cleanser and use micellar water or gentle cleansing oil instead. For oily, combination and acne-prone skin, don’t be afraid to use cleansing oil as giving your skin the ‘good’ oil will help balance your skin’s natural oil level.
