My Skin Care Ritual by Sigourney Cantelo

I recently went to South Australia to visit the Jurlique farm, and while I was there, I learned this beautiful skincare ritual which I'm going to share with you here. Cleansing The ritual begins with a unique approach to cleansing. Add a two to three pumps of our Nourishing Cleansing Oil to your hands and press and smooth over your face. Make sure your face is dry before applying. Once applied, add warm water to emulsify. Rinse thoroughly. This cleansing oil softens the skin while it removes impurities. Tone I'm using Rosewater Balancing Mist as my toning step. It contains pure rose oils, which I love because it smells like a bouquet of fresh roses. As you close your eyes and spritz your face, their fragrant floral extracts uplift and refresh you while hydrating your skin. AWE Activating Water Essence is the first treatment step of your ritual. It contains a distilled essence of marshmallow root, which has been used for centuries for its healing properties. Press three to four drops of the essence between the palms of your hands, and then press it into your skin. One of the benefits of this product is that it helps with continuous hydration and enhances the performance of your serum and moisturizer. When you use Activating Water Essence, you can feel how moisturizing and softening it is—and the fragrance is so refreshing! Face Serum Next, I'm using Herbal Recovery Signature Serum with botanicals and anti-aging ingredients. You want to use this morning and evening under your moisturizer. The best way to use serums, face oils, and moisturizer is to actually warm the products between the fingertips to activate the natural plant oils and increase their absorption. Cream I'm following my serum with Herbal Recovery Signature Moisturizing Cream. It has a lovely whipped texture and ingredients like Vitamin C to help refine the skin and soften any fine lines. Eye Serum Next up is Herbal Recovery Signature Eye Serum. Ginseng and Niacinamide are great at keeping the skin tone nice, even in an area that is prone to discoloration. Apply it with ring fingers. Press gently around the eye area and under the brow bone. And there you have it, a beautiful natural skin care ritual.

WHY AIR QUALITY MATTERS IN YOUR SKIN CARE

The ability to scientifically measure and study the impact of pollution might be relatively new, but we’ve always had a belief that air quality is one of the crucial factors in producing pure, effective skin care. It’s one of the reasons our founders moved across the globe to settle in the rolling Adelaide Hills of South Australia.How pollution affects skin (and skin care)For many decades, there was one clear environmental culprit capable of wreaking havoc on our complexions; this was, of course, the sun’s UV rays. More recently, another offender has come along: the air itself. Unlike the sun, however, air pollution gives no early warning signs.Separate studies have found that air pollution can have a significant impact on the skin, leading to the premature appearance of visible signs of ageing, such as fine lines and pigmentation.But there’s another side to this story that’s far less known: what’s the impact of air pollution on the botanical ingredients grown specifically for skin care?The quality of air that surrounds plants plays a huge role in determining just how robust and healthy those plants may be.
